Winds Workshop, with Ventus Machina

Ventus Machina is a professional woodwind quintet based in New Brunswick. They will be leading an educational workshop with KYO musicians in the daytime and presenting a chamber concert in the evening.

Composition Workshop: Music for Film
with Ron Royer and Sergei Kofman
Saturday, April 28th, 2018, 1 – 4 p.m.
Room 117, Gzowski College, Trent University

Join us for this unforgettable workshop opportunity with well-known Canadian Composer Ron Royer.  The workshop will cover how music enhances film as well as the processes involved in composing music for film. Participants will have an opportunity to work in collaborative teams to digitally compose short pieces of music to accompany assigned film segments using the downloadable freeware MuseScore. The workshop will conclude with a time for teams to present their ‘masterworks’ cued to the film clip and discussion.  Registered participants should bring a laptop (charged) pre-loaded with the MuseScore software and a USB key.

Composition participation is limited; please register early. Auditors welcome.

Try the Orchestra Day

Musicians aged 11 + and their families are invited to bring their instruments and watch, listen and play with the KYO, led by Music Director Michael Newnham.  Afterwards, stay for refreshments and an opportunity to ask questions about joining the orchestra.   Playing in the orchestra will take your music to the next level!
